"Are You Really Proud of Me?" is a non-linear video art piece that utilizes spoken word poetry and true recounts from my past to tell a story about how the love for those who have hurt me never dies in resentment. The pain in resurfacing memories is often disorienting. "Are You Really Proud of ME?" details and neglects those memories in the same instance. The use of poetry helps us understand/face problems we may have faced in the past or near the future. The feelings of grief, we all must one day face are imminent. Coming to terms with love, resentment, and pain are intolerable at times, but always breaks through whether we want them to or not.
