I challenge traditional depictions of suburbia by orchestrating juxtapositions between the mundane and the eerie to create conflict and tension. My landscape paintings are an examination of the human psyche, settings where the human mind is laid bare and its complexities revealed. Behind these charged environments often lie personal yet common experiences that linger in a heightened state of uncertainty. I’m interested how form, light and color within unassuming spaces can be manipulated and reconstructed into an uncomfortable, almost uncanny depiction of the banal. By deconstructing the mundane and colliding it with the abnormal, the landscape transforms into a sensory experience that amplifies human drama, often suggesting an implied event or a vague story. This intimate scene is an embodiment of the emotional discord many of us share, where vulnerability materializes, and we are forced to confront the uncomfortable truths of both physical and psychological isolation.
