Jacob O'Kelley is an Atlanta-based visual artist and curator. His artwork examines identity and the domestic through installation, sculpture, and painting. Growing up in Georgia and raised in a conservative, religious household, he reflects upon his struggles as a closeted adolescent. His work navigates the often conflicting relationships between religion, masculinity, queer identity, and memory. Through the utilization of found objects, personal ephemera, and used furniture, he investigates experienced homophobia while questioning the validity of the nuclear family. By addressing the throughlines in his life, the works provide space for dialogue around queer identity and a place for reconciliation.
