Candace Hackett Shively

Candace Hackett Shively composes with fabric and scissors, trying out ideas and compositions on her design wall and allowing them to incubate for a while. Her work emerges from thoughts that grab her and won't let go: about interactions, injustices, current events, an experience, the turn of a phrase, a question ó so many questions.







Ms. Shively has lived all over the U.S., but she credits her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area for nurturing her creativity. She studied printmaking and photography as an undergraduate while completing a degree in English. She found her true medium, the art quilt, in a break-through graduate exhibit for her interdisciplinary Master's degree in Humanities. After retiring from a career in education and moving to Georgia, she is relishing more time for her art quilts.







Ms. Shively's works have juried into many respected fiber art and fine art exhibits, both regionally and nationally. She is an active member of Studio Art Quilt Associates.
