Reagan Kruse received her BFA from College of Charleston in 2023, beginning her career of education at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She now works out of her hometown of Alpharetta, Georgia. Growing up amidst evergreens and mountain ranges has inspired a stormy color palette of deep shadows and specific moments of light. Her interior scenes glisten with reflective barware and dimly lit conversations that echo sounds of a night life before her time. The world's natural forms of distortion and escapism have inspired a series of paintings that ask questions about what the viewer knows as true and untrue in an image. Stained glass, reflective liquor bottles and long hallways are distortionary tools she has found in the world around her. Reagan offers a limited vantage point through these windows, crafting their own version of loneliness in their singularity. Building works by the leftover pieces of the ends of nights, haunting yet strangely tender.
