Originally from Mumbai, India, Debanjana Bhattacharjee moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2015 from Texas. She has a bachelor's in mathematics from University of Mumbai and a post graduate diploma in Modern and Contemporary Indian Art History from Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai.
Debanjana is an en plein air painter who captures those fleeting,
beautiful moments outdoors. Her paintings are her instant reaction to the scene and
are painted in the way she feels depicts the scene best. She can be seen painting the
sunrise in Myrtle Beach daily during the summers.
Early this year 2023, Debanjana was juried into Oil Painters of America (OPA). Her painting, Love Letter was selected for the 45th Piccolo Spoleto Juried Art Exhibition 2023 at City Gallery, Charleston.
Debanjana enjoys painting in acrylic, oil and gouache. All three mediums help her with the different immediacy her subject calls for.
