As a little girl, I noticed that African American dolls especially cloth dolls were very limited in availability, I never imagined that one day I would become a cloth doll artist. My grandmother was a professional seamstress, she taught me to sew at the age of 9. It wasn't my favorite thing to do as a little girl and I only had patience enough to sew small simple things. One day I was browsing in the art section of a book store and took interest in art dolls. I first began making dolls 29 years ago during a period when I was recovering from a head injury. I needed to feel engaged into something that made me happy.
I also have friends that are artist of different mediums which helped me develop a mixture of techniques which contributes to my creativity and colorful imagination.
