John Lee Masters

Macon, GA

I was born in Birmingham, Alabama and earned two degrees BA and MA in Art and Education. I have also attended Parsons School of Design (New York) and Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia I moved to middle GA in 1995 and began a teaching career that lasted 27 years until retirement in 2022. Over the years my art has matured into experimental approaches to collage and mixed media., usually characterized by textured and or heavily glazed surfaces, and bold compositions. My inspiration can be in the form of social commentary, world and political events or and



personal phenomena. I am the recipient of multiple awards and honors including: Outstanding Arts Educator by the Atlanta Arts Institute and Star Teacher of the Year by Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA. Art awards include: Being selected to participate in the GAEA Arts Competition. Group and Solo local exhibits including the Tubman Museum, Middle Georgia Arts Association, in Macon
