How to Write Your Artist Bio Paragraph
Artist biographies may include the following details:
- Where your from
- Hobbies & Interests
- What got you interested in the arts
An example of an artist bio is:
My name is Jackson and I attend Clairemont Middle school. I am in the 6th grade. I have been drawing since I was 3 yrs. old. To this day, my mother still has my first picture. In my art, I strive to communicate using bright colors that I feel bring joy to others. In the future I plan to teach at the University of the Arts. I like to sing, dance, and play with my doggie Samsonite. But my favorite thing to do is draw.
How to Write Your Artist Statement
Things to consider when writing your artist statement:
- Inspiration
- Materials and/or Experimentation
- Meaning Behind Your Work
An example of an artist statement is:
For my artwork, I painted an image of animals that represents my childhood while living in the midwest. I was inspired by all the different lizards I would see there. I tested out various textures using plaster and air dry clay to add a 3D aspect to the painting. My goal was to draw the viewer in to investigate the details of the lizards. I used lines and dots throughout the painting to create a rhythm that can be followed.
