For this piece, I was inspired to combine styles of contemporary and traditional still life techniques. I incorporated more modern elements such as the camera and the lavender and teal colors, while also using traditional items such as a candle and flowers and using traditional colors. I used watercolor to create a more washed-out effect and I used a wet on dry technique to create more details and layers to create depth. Lastly, I used a little bit of white charcoal to create light highlights and details. I really wanted this painting to look like a little piece of time captured; therefore, I tried to give it a more vintage feel and look.
