My Inspiration for the selected work is capturing nature in motion. I chose a koi fish because in Japanese culture they symbolize strength, courage, patience, and success through perseverance. The piece captures the motion of a koi fish swimming up a stream, the scales are impressed to depict the realistic texture of the koi fish. The mouth and eyes go all the way through the fish to add more depth to the piece. This piece’s goal was to capture nature in motion.
