I created this piece of art in multiple steps. After sketching out very loose and soft flowers, I used liquid frisket as a resist for the areas I wanted to remain white. Then, I painted with watercolors in a soft feminine fashion. I used salt in my watercolor to add texture. After the watercolor dried, I used pen and ink to create outlines and various hatching, cross hatching, and stippling marks. Finally, I used an Xacto knife to cut and lift the watercolor paper to make the flowers appear 3-D.
