Me and my family are from the inner city of San Diego. And I wanted to make a piece that represented inner city life, and unique beauty. I wanted to use materials that highlighted the contrasting looks, lifestyles and beliefs cities have. I wanted to showcase how I saw city life in sporadic bursts of life, not through a tourist lens. I also used this piece to expand my horizons in art using materials I wouldn’t usually use. I wanted to make this piece to be a love letter, to not just a specific city, but the lifestyle.
