Artist Statement

This piece was completed with colored pencils on paper. The title is "Copper," named after my dog. I decided to draw him because he was laying down in the sunlight one day, and I took a photo. The composition of the photo forced the perspective of his nose to be close to the viewer, and the contrast between the light and dark of his fur looked fun to recreate with colored pencils.

I am a 17-year-old student at Lexington High School. Art has been a passion of mine since I could hold a pencil, and I have taken as many art classes as possible from Art 1 to AP Art! I am an aspiring teacher as well, and I hope to encourage my future students to create art!
