Growing up, the media always had a limited portrayal of mixed people. This severely warped my opinion of my identity as I felt I was not “white enough” and not “black enough” which gave me a sense incompleteness. This was how I saw myself until recently when I realized I that being half black and half white did make me complete and that I did not have to embody just one side or the other. It was then I decided I would embrace my identity and heritage in my art. I would be the change I wanted to see in media and show the world the beauty of being mixed.
