Driving down a long, bumpy road near nightfall, I came across an overgrown road adorned with a similarly overtaken speed limit sign. Plants crawled across the ground and the sun’s vibrancy had set across the sky. The sign was rusted and blocked by vines, while the road was overgrown and neglected. The road ended as the sun faded into it, and the sides were taken over by plants. When we hear the word “abandoned”, we often think of old, grey buildings. However, ‘abandoned’ can be beautiful and vibrant, as portrayed here. Taking inspiration from the Impressionistic style, I used small strokes and different variants of colors to create movement in the sky. The deep blues and the fiery oranges and reds contrast each other. The trees are lined with glowing edges depicting the sun’s shine on them.
