This is a piece called "The Shell" because of the beautiful patterns on it and the meaning as well. Everyone goes through hardships in their life no matter what it is and it makes us who we are today. Those difficulties that we experience impact us whether we like it or not. Sometimes we put on a shell to protect us but it'll eventually end up dented and scratched. No matter the pain that we are put through I believe that the outcome in the end can be beautiful. My artwork "The Shell" represents those tough times that we go through and how no matter how much we try to hide it still affects us. The glaze on my vase is purposefully chipped, scratched, warped, and misshaped to represent those difficult times. However, even if it is not perfect it still looks beautiful and full of life. I believe my artwork can speak to a lot of people and for me, it represents hope that things will work out in the end.
