My artwork was inspired by people who hide their true emotions and feelings by masking it behind a fake smile. I experimented with charcoal for the first time, so I could really get across the idea that there is no color in this situation, there is no joy, just pure black and white. The face being sewn onto the patient's head represents how people hide how they are actually feeling with lies and fake smiles. The viscous black substance pouring out from beneath the sewn on face represents people's true emotions that are slowly being revealed before they get pent up and burst out.
