For this piece, I created a linocut of an afternoon spent with my friend Evan. Drawing inspiration from the tranquility of the landscape, I embraced an atmospheric tonality within the imagery. This work represents the appreciation I hold for Evan, whose relationship to me began as my first love and became a close friendship. Through experimentation with brushed application of ink and warm hues, I strove to create connotations of comfort and love, visualizing the gratitude you can hold for a loved one. When looking at this work, I encourage viewers to reflect on their youth and how perceptions of love can change over time.
