My piece expresses the experience of internal conflict as a journey from messy, unruly feelings toward an eventual solace. It depicts the battle of expectation vs. reality, that is to say what we try to be vs. what we are. It is a way for me to pay homage to my experience with heavy internal conflict during a time of change while also using the creative process as a chance to gain further closure. Using a combination of alcohol markers and prismacolors to create this piece aided with emulating the layering effects of the feelings expressed. Desaturating the conflict against the serene palette visually represents the internal transformation that occurred.
