Isabella McJunkin

My name is Isabella McJunkin. I am currently enrolled at South Florence high school as a Junior. I am the PR rep for my school's National Art Honors Society Branch. Additionally, I am a member of Beta Club, National Honors Society, PEARLS, Bruins in Action (my school's community service club), Academic Team, Mu Alpha Theta (math club), International Thespians Society, and I perform in our school's plays and musicals. My hobbies and interests include singing, crocheting, scrap booking, shopping, getting coffee with friends, 80's sci-fi movies and effects, superheros, old media, and alternative rock music. I'm a bubbly, passionate, and expressive person. I am a mixed media artist that specializes in paintings with nostalgic themes. I am largely inspired by past decades and creating the moods associated with them. I like to incorporate whimsical elements and fun patterns into my work. I create pieces that typically have deep connections to my personal life and have a touch of feminine flair. As I grow in my art, I focus more on the process and creation of the piece. This school year, I went through a large spell of art block, during which I began to focus more on what I enjoyed making. This led me down the road of bright, colorful, and expressive pieces. I began to experiment more and more by adding elements of things I liked instead of focusing on a specific look or aesthetic.
