Claire Lenahan is an artist working with the idea of queering away from, and the queer experience against, the “straight-edge” of the societal norm. She explores this through disrupting the extension of bodies into space by queering familiar objects, causing disorientation. She was a studio assistant to potter Bob Meier, and artists Lynn Duryea and April Flanders. She exhibited her work at the annual NCECA Juried Student Exhibition in Cincinnati, Ohio, Master of Fine Arts Candidates II Exhibition in Gainesville, Florida, Ten Years of Appalachian State Ceramics at the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum in North Carolina, and other locations in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Minnesota, and China. She has also been featured in two publications exhibiting her artwork. She received her BFA in Studio Art from Appalachian State University and MFA in Studio Art (Ceramics) at the University of Florida.
