"Coloratura" is a portrait of Augusta native and world-renowned Opera singer and recitalist, Jessye Norman. This was part of the Window Project at the Jessye Norman School of Art, opened by Norman herself in 2003. The Window Project is a year-round display of local artist's works, blown up and printed as an installable mural on the window just outside the Ann and Ellis Johnson Gallery of Art, where Dunaway's piece was later displayed in the Moving Windows exhibition in December 2021. In this piece, Dunaway uses thrifted fabrics from Augusta's second-hand shops. She uses these recycled materials as metaphors. Jessye Norman and Dunaway grew up in the same city, but at different times. These recycled materials, some dating to the time Jessye would have been young, act as a symbol of weaving of stories and experiences. Norman rises above this woven landscape, looking over all that she has done. She rises as the sun, golden and warm.
