Elizabeth Mesa-Gaido is an artist who has explored topics such as illness, politics & cultural identity. Work has been supported through grants & fellowships from Art Matters, Alternate Roots, Kentucky Arts Council, Kentucky Foundation for Women, & Great Meadows Foundation. Images &/or critical reviews of artwork have been published in The Latino Studies Reader: Culture, Politics & Society, In the Land of Mirrors: Cuban Exile Politics, Fiberart International, Art Miami, The Nation, New Art Examiner, ART PAPERS, The Miami Herald, Surface Design Journal, & a forthcoming book by the Museo de Arte y Diseño Contemporáneo de Costa Rica. Exhibit venues include Cuban Museum of Arts & Culture, Mexic-Arte Museum, Urban Institute of Contemporary Art, Spaces, KMAC Museum, FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts, & Aluna Art Foundation. She has been commissioned by the Carnegie Museum of National History, & Speed Art Museum. Her studio is in Morehead, KY. She holds an MFA from Ohio University.
