The process of artistic creation has held an important meditative role throughout my life. My work is often inspired by natural elements, both micro and macro. I am fascinated with the textures, colors and movements within nature as well as the vast emotions that arise when we are directly confronted with its power; the intricately weathered texture of bark on the trees and the calm yet alerted sensations of standing deep within a forest. The intuitive aspect of my painting process allows me to create a dialogue with the materials using spontaneous reactions between paint and surface to guide me towards the finished work. This practice gives me the freedom to listen to my materials as I work, relying on their natural guidance to portray the rhythmic forces of nature. I find this exploration to be a guide towards mindfulness and authentic expression.
