Kelly Riek is a 2022 graduate of Haywood Community College's Professional Crafts- Fiber Program, where she learned how to weave in the mountains of western North Carolina. She began her studies after a decade spent in the field of retail visual display and has previous experience in fashion, sculpture, and sound design, with coursework completed at both Parsons School of Design and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Presently based near Asheville, North Carolina, Riek creates textiles under the business name Achstetter and has been exhibited at The Bascom and the Southern Highland Craft Guild's Folk Art Center.
