I am a documentary photographer working most recently in Kenya and Mississippi. I love to travel and explore different cultures. With my most recent work, Storefronts of Kenya and Mississippi, I am interested in the common cultural connections of small businesses around the world.
In 2011 I published an award winning photobook I Am Because We Are: African Wisdom in Image and Proverb, a life-affirming portrait of the African people and culture. In 2012 I received a statewide award in photography, and, in 2013 and 2019, a Mississippi Visual Artist Grant.
My other work, including Finding Mississippi, has been widely exhibited in many juried and invitational exhibitions. Selected publications include Shots, Silvershotz, Lenscratch, ACurator, RfotoFolio, F-Stop and Don't Take Pictures.
Selected public collections are Beinecke Library, Yale University; The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC; Mississippi Museum of Art; and The Do Good Fund of Southern Photography.
