I taught art in Pinellas Country, Florida for 37 years teaching multiple levels and age. I also taught special education art to Trainable, profound, deaf, blind, autistic and multiple handicaps. I was an artist before and after teaching. I have believed to teach art you must constantly put yourself in the place of person making art no matter how young. I taught with the Department of Defense in the Philippines teaching art for three years and traveled widely in Asia. I was awarded a sabbatical to study Islamic and Turkish Folk arts living in Izmir, Turkey for two and half years. My work is mixed media 2d, high relief and assemblage. My style of art is conceptual and surrealistic. Joseph Cornell and Robert Rauschenberg have influenced my art a great deal, as well as, my travels in Asia and the Middle East. I love worn, old found objects worn by life and the environment. The images and objects I use in my work are placed with to spark unconscious meaning as in Surrealism.
