I am a black, queer, Floridian woman who has recently relocated to Virginia. I am a portrait artist with a focus on people of the African Diaspora, and I use my work to push conversations that aim to dismantle the monolith of the Black American experience. It is my hope that thoughtful and deliberate portrayals of Black Americans will stimulate conversations to dismantle the stereotypes that shroud the truth of who and how we exist in this world. My work is a celebration of the beauty, history, culture, and people of the diaspora through art and the practice of Sankofa. I am inspired by our ceaseless adaptability, how the essence of our being always creates something out of anything, and by the love and pride created from the transformations of shared diasporic experiences. I am a self-taught artist who has an affinity for explorative implementation of color and texture, often incorporating glitter, foil, and fluorescents in my work.
