In February of 2025, I took a trip to the Audubon zoo in New Orleans, and I saw the most beautiful brown pelican perched on a large branch out in the middle of a pond. I knew right then and there that I needed to capture this moment. Ever since I began my journey down the scientific and nature inspired path, I have looked up to John James Audubon. Just like him, I have always been fascinated by birds. So out of every single animal I saw at that zoo, the great brown pelican just happened to be the one that called my name. It just felt right. So through my pencils, paints, and papers, I pay homage to Mr. Audubon and thank him for paving the way for young artists like myself. I am forever grateful.
