This work is about the concepts of a "keystone" and a "rock in the hard place." The main stone element in this work is a Limestone aggregate concrete that was intended to become a window sill. When it was discovered that it was not the correct size for its intended space, the stone was discarded, so it became the central focus of one of my sculptures. The concepts of the "keystone" and the "rock in a hard place" came to mind. My sculptures are made of steel, wood, and stone. I believe that all materials have spirits. They are often called hamadryas, and nymphs. I craft the materials I use in such a way as to bring about the inner beauty of materials. My sculptures are non-objective and geometric in design. I prefer polished and highly finished surfaces of wood and stone. Some works contain fine elements of gold leaf, mother of pearl, or fragmented eggshell, which appear as surface variations. This sculpture is an attempt to bring about the inner beauty of these fine materials on a larger scale.
