Echo is a mountain nymph who was cursed by Hera for distracting her with conversation while Zeus was off "Zeusing." The curse made it so Echo could not speak unless spoken to, and to repeat what was said to her. Soon after, she fell in love with Narcissus, who did not reciprocate her affections. This is what chaos I imagined her mind-scape to be, with the loss of her autonomy of speech. With her love now gone, she is left in her thoughts, silent and still, like the "waiting" of an absurdist play. There is hope she may move on, but the moment stretches on, and we know what became of her. The glitches reflect the digital age we live in, and the mental anguish of when the words of those in power are repeated, but the words from the ones needed to be heard are omitted. Narcissus also suffers from a gunshot, to allude to the multiple conflicts of our current era.
