In an effort to use free resources to make new work, I have been saving all of our trash. With the help of a paper shredder, I turn magazines into paper clay, which I combine with cardboard to make these rock-like painting surfaces. The resulting body of work, inspired by the endless trickery and deception in coyote and roadrunner cartoons, reads like a field of desert rocks. What's an artist to do, gaslit and deceived of the place we call home. What was once whole is split to pieces and sold as parts for the benefit of the fewest of the few. Most frustrating is that anyone who recognized the painting on the rock was in fact not a tunnel through a mountain, seems to have been ignored, or worse, told they were overreacting, while the landscape falls apart around us.
