A visual artist, writer, and teacher, I have lived in Lexington, Virginia, since 1992. I've been a fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and was honored with an individual artist fellowship in photography from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
I've exhibited my work widely and published several books. Photo essays have appeared in such publications as StorySouth, Southern Cultures, the South Atlantic Review, Shenandoah, Southern Spaces, the North Carolina Literary Review, and the Eudora Welty Review.
For equipment, I prefer the old and unconventional: My favorite cameras are a vintage Rolleiflex and a modified Holga. My photographs are film-based, and I make the prints myself.
