For this piece I painted the negative and ever changing (yet constant) part of my life- which is the medical issues I deal with every single day. Specifically, asthma, allergies, mental health, and autoimmune. To represent these I have drawn/painted inhalers and steroid pills, for my asthma; EpiPens, for my anaphylactic allergy; mental health medication, for my anxiety; getting blood drawn and bandaids, from blood tests for my autoimmune disease. These are all things that seem to have always been in my life, with new ones added every so often. I wanted to portray the struggle quite literally, with the objects clearly in the viewers face. I painted the arm and the various medications with gouache, adding the details in after with colored pencil. To emphasize how this impacts me every day I have added real medical papers. Sheets from medication, from ER trips. With pens I've drawn on my eyes, crying from the burden and overwhelm I feel from having to live with something so frustrating.
