This project was the usual thing you'd expect from a school art assignment: A self-portrait. The idea, in this advanced art class, was to go above and beyond the idea of a usual self-portrait though. The prompt was to tell a story with a portrait of you and the idea easily stumped me. Self-portraits were always a dreaded art piece for me, because I've always had difficulty with drawing someone who looks like me. So instead of focusing on getting my facial features exact and just the right expression, I wanted to create something interesting. The colors just spoke out to me in the same way that the texture of the hair and face did. This, along with that is my love of makeup and the way so many different styles of it inspires much of my art, created this vivid piece here. All in all, this is just a self-portrait, but it honestly is one of the favorite compositions I've ever done.
