You are treading through a thick swamp in a dense fog, trying not to make too much noise, when you hear something disrupt the water behind you. You start to walk faster and faster, pushing aside the floating weeds, but you slip on the slimy sediment below you. As you surface and wipe off your face, you turn around and suddenly there is a colossal creature, looming over you, teeth bared. This is the Irritator Challengiri-a deadly creature from the Cretaceous period. Weighing in at more than 2,200 pounds and 26 feet in length, the Irritator had razor sharp 1.5-inch teeth, thick, armored skin, and a terrifying presence. I illustrated this creature in its full size because I wanted to convey its daunting presence and really show my respect for it. Thankfully humans never coexisted with this menacing creature, but hopefully my artwork can convey the true spine-chilling presence that it struck into its prey.
