Oscar Soto is a Brazilian-born Chilean-American artist living and practicing in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Growing up in the United States, his atypical cultural roots never allowed him to fit into simple categories or homogenous social groups. Similarly, his artwork resists simple categorization. While his recent sculptural work combines 3D modeling and digital fabrication with traditional woodworking, he also has roots in painting, poetry, and music. He has had solo exhibitions at the Museo Nacional Ferroviario Pablo Neruda in Chile, and in the United States at Winthrop University, where he received his MFA in Studio Art in 2021, and at Wofford College, where he currently works as the studio manager for the Department of Art and Art History.
