This work is part of a larger series of wheat paste installations that explore and celebrate public lands in Florida. This iteration takes the form of a 48" x 96" wheat paste on plywood, elevated on cement blocks like a roadside monument. The image, photographed at Hall Scott Regional Preserve and Park, is part of a broader grant project focused on public lands across Central Florida. The plywood surface and temporary construction evoke both infrastructure and impermanence-a structure that might weather, rot, or disappear over time. The wheat paste process is intentionally non-archival: laser prints on trimmed 8.5" x 11" copy paper are layered and adhered using a homemade paste of bleached flour and water. This low-cost, labor-intensive method reinforces the work's ephemeral nature and its connection to place. The installation invites viewers to glimpse the aura of Florida's wetlands and pine scrub and to stand, momentarily, within the tension between preservation and decay.
