Jacksonville, FL
Hope McMath is a cultural leader, educator, artist, curator, and activist with a strong commitment to social justice. She's founder of Yellow House, an organization with a mission to connect art and community. She teaches AP Art History and is artist-in-residence with Mayo Clinic's Humanities in Medicine program.
Hope uses printmaking as a vehicle for storytelling and advocacy. She's shown her work throughout the United States, most recently in the exhibition "Print +: Sameness and Otherness in Contemporary Printmedia" that travelled to New Jersey, California, and Jacksonville. Recently, she completed a residency at Florida State College of Jacksonville, where she began a series entitled "Legacy Interrupted". The large-scale prints - relief, letterpress, silkscreen - reveal the tensions between her ancestry, current life path, and the contemporary debates on how we know, teach, and reckon with our collective history.
