"Fifteen Points of Impact" bent and folded the metal into dancing curves. Rocks and sand made perfect swirls across the paint. Crushing force creased the metal so sharply in places that the coats of paint tore down to bare steel. As I stood there, my melon colored ArtFields t-shirt reflected onto the grey paint, and the painter in me was overwhelmed by the ironic beauty of the moment. The slogan on the shirt-Living, Breathing Proof of the Power of Art-could not have summed up any better what years of loss and hardship have taught me: seek beauty and pay attention to angels. Every time I look at this image, I see new details, blue skies and clouds in the highlights, parts of me reflected in the shadows, corners that look ready to reveal more layers of the story. While I do not typically work in photography, this image felt painted by forces that I could not improve upon, but needed to preserve.
