Ashley Rabanal

Ashley Rabanal is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, although she spent much of her childhood and teen years living in both South Africa and Kenya. In 2016, she received her Bachelor of Arts from Anderson University in South Carolina, and in 2020 she received her MFA in Visual Arts from Clemson University. She is a 2019 grant recipient from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation and a 2025 project grant recipient from the South Carolina Arts Commission. Currently, she teaches with the University of South Carolina.



Rabanal's practice is heavily centered around explorations of the body in states ranging from restful to quietly in motion. She tinkers with notions of touch and sensation in the othered body, while using heightened or arbitrary color.
