Radford, VA
Sung Eun Park is an artist working across drawing, sculpture, and painting. Her current body of work explores the idea of a "good death," reflecting on mortality and how its inevitable shadow can lead to an acceptance that reshapes the way we live. Through surreal narratives, Park invites viewers on a journey that encourages them to remain present, release the weight of past and future, and contemplate the dignity and value of life.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Park received her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her MFA from Indiana University Bloomington. Her work has been featured in exhibitions such as Vox Populi, the Wassaic Summer Exhibition, and the CICA Museum, and in print. She has participated in residencies at the Wassaic Project, Sitka Center for Art & Ecology, Vermont Studio Center, and The Studios at MASS MoCA. She lives and works in Virginia.
