I believe that life is an ever-moving cycle, a movement from life to death similar to the Hindu concept of Samsara. Aging itself reflects the cycle of seasons. With summertime comes the casual innocence and nostalgia of childhood, the memories of eating crisp watermelon by the pool. Fall reflects the maturity of adulthood, with the falling leaves representing the loss of innocence. Winter for many represents an ending, as our world turns cold and creatures seek out a warm and safe place to rest, just as we hope to spend our final days in comfort. However, the deep harsh winters are never permanent, they always lead back to spring, the birth and renewal of infancy, the beginning of a new life and a continuation of the cycle. This coil-built pitcher is a symbolic representation of this cycle. The handle serves a functional purpose, but is also metaphorically the point between winter and spring, the death and rebirth between both stages.
