My name is Adelaide Connolly and I go to Myrtle Beach High as a freshman. I have adored expressing myself my whole life-I used to throw a temper tantrum every morning, fighting with my mom over what I would wear. She would dress me up in a nice outfit with colors and patterns that match, and I would take everything off one at a time, replacing it with whatever I had envisioned to wear that day-always ending in a mess of color, layered skirts and inside out shirts. At the end of the day it was how I wanted to dress, and eventually my mom gave up trying to dress me. My sister would tease me that my clothes didn't match and complain that I was embarrassing or too loud, but I didn't care and didn't let her criticism put me down. I was a very stubborn little girl and my mom says I still am. I just no longer throw a temper tantrum when I cannot do things however I please. I think my strong opinions and free spirit are what made me love art so much. Art allows me to express myself or an idea however I envision it. If I want to draw a donkey with a carrot on its head and say it's a unicorn, then to me it is a unicorn and nobody can take that away from me. Art is freedom, and I have always loved to be free more than anything else.
