"Cystic Acne and Hirsutism" explores societal expectations placed on feminine bodies to appear flawless, controlled, and attractive. Incorporating materials associated with beauty, this artwork aims to elevate symbols of acne, inflammation, and unwanted hair into a reflection on attention and aesthetic beauty. Red sewing pins puncture the surface, representing both the sharp pain of cystic acne and the emotional burden of visible imperfections. Some pins coated with nail polish are associated with picking and popping, resulting in scars. By beautifying what is often hidden or removed, this work challenges cultural expectations of femininity and invites tenderness toward the body's natural irregularities.
