At the beginning of May, I discovered that my now ex partner had been having an affair. This work comes from the lies, deceit, intimate betrayal, and the loss of our family. Weekend nights of not coming home, a fake trip to help a friend, losing track of time at work, and using a coworker as an excuse were signs that I told myself I was crazy to think were lies. After just finishing work for two solo exhibitions that were essentially love songs about us, while dealing with what I now know was AuDHD burnout, creating this work helped me process and take care. This piece uses peonies and other imagery to symbolize the things that were lost when multiple choices were made to betray. This work is part of the grieving process and part of beginning again.
