Set in Lake City, SC, "For The Moon" is a coming-of-age story set in 1959, that follows a precocious nine-year-old Ronald E. McNair who enters an all-white library and refuses to leave without his books. "For the Moon" continues the conversation around race relations we face today, but adds to it by creating agency in its characters. Through natural lighting and subjective framing, the film humanizes the historically marginalized to spark dialogue with the viewer, to form new perceptions that adequately represent the unyielding persistence to be better than what this world allows us to be.
