Winton and Rosa Eugene have been in the pottery business since 1986. Winton is a self-taught potter. He started out making pottery in his garage; using a kick-wheel and reading books his gave him. He was an artist before he became a Potter; painting in most mediums. That's how the art work found itself onto the pottery. The relief work is done in the same manner, except the clay is leather harden when he carves the various designs. The clay is a stoneware clay fired in either gas, electric or wood kilns to cones seven to ten. Rosa mixes the non-lead glazes by hand and the glazes are then brushed on. Rosa started making coil pottery in 1996. Each piece is fashioned from a one inch coil using stoneware clay. Once the work is finished she decides what design will be drawn onto the piece by Winton. We work together as a team but, we function as a complete single creative unit in designing what should be drawn onto the pottery.
