Lisa Mullikin

Wilmington, NC

Lisa Mullikin was born in Washington, DC in 1960. She received her Masters of Architecture from the University of Maryland, and worked in Washington, London, New York, San Francisco, Louisiana and Tennessee as an architect and teacher. During this time she took painting and printmaking classes, and her artwork has remained heavily influenced by her career in historical restoration. Her work focuses on the relationships we have with regional landscapes, the geography, geology, history and, most prominent, the layered cultural connections we have to place. Light, shadows and color are important aspects to how the subjects are connected to place.



She now lives near the Carolina coast along the Cape Fear River. Her work is a mixture of oil painting and collage, and she remains committed to a focus on light, color and culture.
